Quelle aventure, quelle aventure...
Et comme souvent, ça se termine à l'aéroport...
J'ai des images plein la tête, j'ai vu tant de beaux endroits, contemplé tant de paysages incroyables et rencontrer tant de gens formidables, c'était vraiment une aventure exceptionnelle.
On dit que les voyages forment la jeunesse, et il est vrai que le seul regret que j'ai est que j'aurais du entreprendre ce voyage bien avant.
Ca reste tout de même une expérience très enrichissante: le fait de voir d'autres cultures, d'autres modes de vie et d'autres mentalités est vraiment très intéressant.
Merci à tous ceux qui m'ont suivi depuis deux mois, que ce soit quotidiennement, hebdomadairement ou occasionnellement. Tous vos petits mots m'ont fait super plaisir.
Merci encore à la FP pour le super cadeau!

De beaux souvenirs... So many good memories...

This is my last evening in North America. I'm not sad, because it got a bit long in the end, but I'm not happy either: on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean the real life is gonna start, I mean the adult life... scary, innit? I'll have to face so many issues like finding a job, getting a flat and stuff...
But still, it was a great experience! I saw so many amazing things, I met so many great people from all around the world and I'm proud to have lived and accomplished something special. I'm pround of myself in many ways, but I'm not really proud of my English though. I think I haven't improved much, but eh, I've spent only 2 months, haven't I :P

Les derniers jours...
Plus que quelques jours avant de repartir pour le Vieux Continent.
Toronto est assez ennuyeux en cette période de l'année. Il pleut, il neige, parfois un peu des deux, et il fait froid. C'est déprimant...
Je n'ai pas mis mon nez dehors depuis 3 jours en fait. Bien sûr, je suis allé aux matches de basket et de hockey mercredi et jeudi soirs, et je suis parti un tour pour voir le Casa Loma, le château qui apparait dans une des scènes du film Scott Pilgrim contre Le Monde, mais j'ai l'impression de passer tout mon temps sur l'ordinateur à regarder les épisodes des séries que j'ai loupé depuis deux mois, à facebooker et à tchater sur msn...
Bonne petite soirée hier soir cela dit: l'aubergiste Anthony, le propriétaire du Planet Traveler, a ouvert son bar le temps d'une soirée avec bouffe gratos (mais pas tise gratos) etc'était super sympa de parler avec des espagnols, des allemands et des anglais de tout et de rien.
Je suis invité ce soir à dîner chez ce charmant couple irlando-canadien que j'avais recontré à l'orée du Parc Algonquin et qui m'avait bien dépanné. On va ensuite voir un concert, ça devrait être très sympa!

Toronto is quite boring at this time of year. It rains, it snows, sometimes kind of both, and it's cold. It's depressing...
I haven't gone outside for 3 days really. Even though I went to the basketball and hockey games on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and took a walk around Casa Loma, this castle which appears in one of the scenes of the film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, I feel like I'm spending all my time watching the episodes of the sitcoms I've been missing for 2 months, facebooking and msning,...
Last night was fun though: Anthony, the Planet Traveler's owner, organised a party with free food (but not free booze) and it was cool talking to Spanish, German and English people about random stuff.
Tonight I'm invited for dinner by this lovely Irish-Canadian couple I met just before entering Algonquin Park and who helped me a lot, and then we're going to a concert. Should be good!

Go Leafs Go!
Aujourd'hui: rien... juste un bon match de Hockey entre l'une des pires équipes (les Maple Leafs de Toronto) et l'une des meilleures équipes (les Flyers de Philadelphie) de NHL.

Not so long ago... in the mysterious land... of Toronto, Canada...
Et voilà, après 2 mois, me revoilà au pays de Scott Pilgrim pour ma dernière semaine en Amérique du Nord! La boucle est bouclée!
Après un long voyage en bus (11H) avec une correspondance à Détroit (j'ai bougé mon ptit cul blanc de l'autre côté de 8 Mile), je suis arrivé à Toronto hier à 13H. Il a neigé presque aussitôt après avoir traversé la frontière canadienne, assez incroyable! J'ai trouvé mon auberge de jeunesse (super auberge soit dit en passant), me suis fait enregistrer et ai dormi un peu avant de me rendre pour 19H au Air Canada Center pour le match de basket qui opposait les Raptors de Toronto contre les Jazz de l'Utah! Match plaisant (j'suis habitué à être assis aux premiers rangs maintenant, alors je change un peu...) avec plein de dunks, de slam dunks et autre beaux lancés, même si il y avait énormément de sièges vides (rien à voir avec les Celtics ou les Bulls!). Je suis rentré à l'auberge et ai dormi comme un loir.
Ce soir, il y aura foule par contre au Air Canada Centre: l'équipe de hockey de Toronto, les Maple Leafs, jouent contre la 1ère équipe au classemanent en NHL, les Philadelphia Flyers! Ca va être chaud!
Yeah, after 2 months, I'm back in Scott Pilgrim's land for my last week in North America! I ended the loop!
After a long trip by bus (11 hours) with one connexion in Detroit, I arrived in Toronto yesterday at 1pm. It was snowing almost as soon as we crossed the border, just unbelievable! I found my hostel (great hostel by the way!), checked in, had some rest and went to the basketball game at the Air Canada Centre (Toronto Raptors vs Utah Jazz) at 7pm. Good game (I'm used to sit at the front rows, I wanted to change for once...), loads of dunks, slam dunks and other spectacular shoots, even if there were so many empty seats (nothing to do with the Celtics or the Bulls!). I went back to the hostel and slept like a log.
Tonight the Air Canada Centre will be so much more packed, because the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Hockey Team, play the Philadelphia Flyers, the first NHL team! It's gonna be wicked!

Sweet Home Chicago
2 jours pour découvrir la Windy city (vraiment très windy=beaucoup de vent), c’était vraiment très peu sachant qu’il y a beaucoup de musées à visiter et d’attractions à faire à Chicago (3ème plus grande ville des Etats-Unis), mais j’ai un peu abusé sur mon emploi du temps en souhaitant rester la dernière semaine à Toronto et en réservant des places pour un match de basket le 9 et un match de hockey le 10… Je n’aurais pas connu les bars où l’on joue du blues, les fameuses pizzas deep dish de Chicago, pas grimper au sommet de la Tour Willis (ancienne Tour Sears).
Toujours est-il que j’ai énormément marché, ai parcouru les grandes avenues de la ville, surtout celles du centre ville (The Loop), et à l’instar de New York, Chicago est une ville où tout est haut avec tous ses gratte-ciels (toujours aussi fou!), très peuplée et donc très bruyante. Ciel gris avec quelques apparitions timides du soleil, je me dis que je n’étais pas mis dans les meilleures conditions pour apprécier les charmes de cette ville. Ce qui m’a le plus impressionné est celle ligne de métro aérienne métallique et tout vieillotte que l’on appelle « le L » qui fait une boucle tout autour du centre ville et d’où l’on peut apercevoir les bâtiments gigantesques ! Mortel!
2 days to visit the Windy City... it wasn't much because Chicago is such a big city (3rd biggest in the US) with numerous museums and several attractions, and I think I made a mistake by choosing to stay the whole last week in Toronto and by booking tickets for a NBA game on the 9th and a hockey game on the 10th... I didn't have the chance to go to a bar where they play the blues, to taste the deep dish pizza and to climb to the top of the Willis Tower (ex-Sears Tower).
Anyway, I walked a lot along the big avenues of this city, mostly downtown (the Loop) and like New York, Chicago is a place where everything is high with all these sky scrapers (quite amazing!), crowded and so very noisy. Grey sky and a few sun apparitions, I guess it wasn't the best conditions
to appreciate the charms of Chicago. What was the most impressive in my opinion was the L, this old metro line which makes a loop around downtown and from where you can look at all these gigantic buildings! Awesome!

J'ai les Bulls... / I got the Bulls...
Arrivé à Chicago vers 12H, j'ai fait un ptit tour en ville avoir déposé mes affaires à l'auberge et casser une ptite graine (un gros burger et un excellent cheese cake plutôt), et je me suis ensuite rendu au United Center où j'ai assisté à la rencontre de basketball entre les Bulls de Chicago et les Hornets de la Nouvelle Orléans (au 9ème rang s'il vous plaît!). J'ai pu donc enfin voir le fameux Derrick Rose (futur meilleur joueur de la saison?) ainsi que Boozer et Johakim Noah. Même si je suis un peu déçu par la rencontre (victoire sans trop forcer des Bulls) et par l'ambiance, j'ai encore vu du grand spectacle à l'américaine!
Merci à mes coéquipiers de l'USVerneuil et surtout à la FP pour ce beau cadeau de départ (ou d'anniversaire!)! Vous êtes formidables!

Lucky in Milwaukee
Quel excellent séjour! Je ne regrette absolument pas d'être venu à Pewaukee, petite ville du Wisconsin! Mon ami américain Jim, que j'ai connu à l'école d'été à Brno en République Tchèque en 2005, vit là avec sa femme et ses beaux parents dans une superbe maison (une ancienne ferme), et ça doit être la famille américaine la plus géniale qu'il soit! Ce sont des gens tellement charmants, j'ai passé un super moment avec eux! J'ai même rencontré les amis de Jim, super sympa!
Grosse éclate en somme: nous avons assisté à 3 concerts 3 nuits d'affilée (jam, blues et rock) dans des endroits complètement différents, j'ai participé à un concours du meilleur chilly entre tous les restos de Milwaukee, concours qui se tenait dans une université, je me suis baladé dans la campagne et j'ai pas mal discuté avec Jim et ses proches. C'était vraiment une super expérience!
J'attaque la dernière étape avant Toronto: je pars à Chicago pour 2 jours!

My friend Jim, an American guy I met in a summer school in Brno, Czech Republik in 2005, lives there with her wife and her parents, and it must be the greatest family in America! They're just adorable and I had the best time with them! I was even introduced to Jim's friend and they are so nice!
Man, I had great fun: I saw 3 concerts (Jam, Blues and Rock) 3 nights in a raw, in very different places, I went to a chilly contest which took place in a university, I walked in the countryside in the snow and I really hung out with Jim and all his folks, talked to them a lot, it was such a good experience!
Now this is the final step before Toronto: I'm going to Chicago for 2 days!

Mon gars, trop bon ce petit séjour à Washington!
D’entrée j’ai vu les Capitals jouer (grosse équipe de hockey de Washington), et même si c’était un match médiocre dans l’ensemble, c’est devenu la folie à partir de la dernière minute !
Hier, grand soleil, on se serait déjà cru au printemps, et les potos anglais et moi avons visité le Capitole (tellement incroyable !) et marché autour des principaux monuments : la Cour Suprême, le Washington Monument, le WWII Memorial, le Jefferson Memorial, le Vietnam War Memorial et enfin la Maison Blanche ! Excellent ! Ca a l’air super sympa de vivre à Washington, surtout dans ce coin là…
On a terminé la journée dans notre « bar préféré », le Capitol City. Après quelques pintes et de très bons délires, nous sommes rentrés en vitesse à l’auberge.
C’est dommage que je ne puisse rester un peu plus longtemps dans cette ville, il y a tant de choses à voir et à faire, c’est surtout le Pentagone que j’aurais aimé visiter. Une prochaine fois…
En ce moment même, j’attends mon avion à l’aéroport Ronald Reagan. Destination : Milwaukee !

First I saw the Capitals play: the game was mediocre until the last minute, and then it was madness!
And yesterday was a beautiful day, and me and my mates (cheers Jon & Tom) visited the Capitol (amazing!) and walked around all the monuments: the Supreme Court, the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial and finally the White House! Wicked! Washington is a lovely place, at least this area.
This day ended in Capitol City, our “favorite bar”. We had a couple of pints, a good laugh and ran back to the hostel.
Too bad I couldn’t stay more than a day: I wish I could see more of this City and visit the Pentagon. Next time…

And yesterday was a beautiful day, and me and my mates (cheers Jon & Tom) visited the Capitol (amazing!) and walked around all the monuments: the Supreme Court, the Washington Monument, the WWII Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam War Memorial and finally the White House! Wicked! Washington is a lovely place, at least this area.
This day ended in Capitol City, our “favorite bar”. We had a couple of pints, a good laugh and ran back to the hostel.
Too bad I couldn’t stay more than a day: I wish I could see more of this City and visit the Pentagon. Next time…
At this very moment I’m at the Ronald Reagan National Airport waiting for my plane. Destination: Milwaukee!
