Burgers en Chutes Libres...

Je me suis levé très tôt ce matin (ou plutôt, les ronfleurs m’ont réveillé) bien avant 6H30, l’heure à laquelle j’ai pris une douche, préparé mon sac et quitté Clarence Castle (mon auberge) pour aller à la gare prendre mon train pour les Chutes du Niagara. Comme j’avais beaucoup d’avance, j’ai pris un petit déjeuner copieux: le magnifique Deluxe Club Burger ci-dessous, accompagné d’un thé:

I woke up pretty early this morning (I was rather woken up by the snorers) before 6.30 am, when I took a shower and packed my stuff and left Clarence Castle (my hostel) to go the train station and take the train to Niagara Falls. As I had plenty of time, I had a great breakfast: the amazing Deluxe Burger thereafter, with some tea:

Puis j’ai pris place dans le train de 8H30. J’ai bien fait de quitter Toronto ce matin parce que l’alerte grand froid a été déclenchée: -15°C à -20°C étaient annoncés ce matin à la télé comme sur le journal Métro, et la neige tombait déjà.

Then I got on the train at 8.30 am. Leaving Toronto this morning was a good idea for the city was on alert because of the great cold: -15°C to -20°C they said on the TV and in the papers Métro, and it was already snowing.

Je suis arrivé à la gare des Chutes du Niagara à 10H22 sous un magnifique ciel bleu et un soleil radieux. A ce niveau là, je peux dire que j’ai eu pas mal de chance jusqu’à présent. J’ai ensuite décidé de faire la route à pieds jusqu’à l’auberge de jeunesse que j’avais réservée la veille. Le Routard disait 35-40 minutes à pieds… j’ai plutôt mis une heure avec mon gros sac sur le dos. En tout cas, c’était une bonne balade sur la River Road ; par contre, la traversée de la ville m’a beaucoup surpris…

I arrived at Niagara Falls station at 10.22am with nothing but blue skies and a beautiful sun. For now I can say I’m quite lucky with the weather. Therefore I decided to walk to the hostel I booked last night. My guide Book, Le Routard, said it would last 35-40 minutes… it was more like an hour with my backpack. Anyway, it was a nice walk down River Road and up through the city where I found myself a bit confused…

J’arrive enfin à mon auberge où suis accueilli par un géant moustachu aux cheveux longs qui se prénomme Patrick : super sympa, le type me demande de suite: « C’est quoi ton histoire Romain? ». On a enchaîné pendant 2H.

Finally, I made my way to my hostel: a big fellow with a moustache and long hair called Patrick gave me a warm welcome! A very nice bloke whose first question was: “So Romain, what’s your story?” and we had a chat for 2 hours.

Je suis ensuite descendu me taper un gros burger-frites, une bonne pinte de bière canadienne et un excellent fondant au chocolat entouré de crème et de glace vanille. Après ça, j’ai commencé à visiter. Comme le décrivait le Routard, Les chutes du Niagara est un mélange de Las Vegas et de Disney autour de cette merveille de la nature. Finalement, on croirait que c’est une vaste blague tellement les attractions n’ont absolument rien à voir avec les chutes.

Then I went downtown to have a big burger with fries, a good pint of Canadian beer and an awesome chocolate fudge cake with vanilla ice-cream. And this is when I started the tour. As the Routard described it, Niagara Falls is a mix between Vegas and Disneyland around this jewel of nature. Finally it could be a joke as the attractions have absolutely nothing to do with the falls.

En tout cas, entre la neige, ce ciel magnifique et ce beau soleil, j’en ai pris plein les yeux ! Il y’a même un superbe arc-en-ciel qui s’est tapé l’incruste sur mes photos : spectacle hallucinant! Waouh!

Apart from that, between the snow, the very nice sky and the great sun, I was amazed! There was also a beautiful rainbow that came to pose on my pictures: amazing sight! Wow!

Tiens, j'vais aller m'faire un burger et guetter les chutes de nuit moi maintenant...
